How to Commission a Portrait of a Favorite Dog
About the Portraits
The portrait is hand painted with acrylics on a birch wood panel cradled with solid wood frame which is 1 5/8" deep.These panels won't flex, stretch, or warp, and they'll last longer than a canvas. With 1 5/8" deep painted edges, the painting do not need to be framed.
I Work From Photographs
A great painting starts with a great photograph. This is most important ! I want to create a really good painting for you & I can only do that from a good clear photo, where I can see your dogs face.
If you are in the Vancouver, WA / Portland, OR area, I will come to your house or favorite dog hangout to meet you & your dog, & take lots of photos. This guarantees that I have the best photo to work from. Portrait price includes travel to your location up to 30 minute drive. A travel fee applies for sessions beyond 30 minutes.
If you live outside the Vancouver, WA/ Portland OR area, I will be working from the photo you send me. I work from one primary photo to create your portrait. A great photo is one that you love, that is clear and well lit, so that can see your dog's eyes & face. Eyes are the key to a great painting.
If you are taking your own photos: take them photo at your dog's eye level & try to have your dog's face fill up most of the frame. For digital cameras, set the camera at the highest quality setting.

When your portrait is completed, I will email you a scan of the final painting, and your portrait will be shipped, fully insured, via USPS.
